Three weeks ago Simon Gregson, actor and father of “Coronation Street” actors Brooke Vincent and Sophie Colquhoun, tweeted a video in which he played pool in shorts and no shirt. “Woke up earlier to find 25,000 likes and I should probably get a phone to play table tennis now that all the peeps have gone,” he wrote.
Three weeks later, he’s making an appearance on “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!” with “Who is Mel McGibbon?” The 41-year-old, who stars as Syed Masood on the British soap opera, shares father duties with actor Martin and daughter Brooke, who plays Sophie in the show. He is in “all areas of the jungle” according to a spokesperson for ITV. Gregson plays Steve McDonald, her husband, on the show.
Gregson describes himself as “funny, nervous and a bit of a clueless uncle.” In an interview with MirrorTV, he admitted that he looked forward to the challenge. “I just want to eat creepy crawlies and live in a jungle for an entire week, and I’m getting to do it!”
He told the website that he “went down quite well [with the viewer vote], especially when there were snakes.” Gregson thought the overall climate was great. “It’s not as exotic as they make it out to be,” he said. “They mean well, and they’re not crazy people. I just love being in the jungle.” Gregson’s older children from his first marriage—”four and under”—were excited when they heard that their dad was going into the jungle.
