Richard Madeley: ‘Time has come for me to step down’

In 2006, Richard Madeley looked incredible — almost superhuman — as he walked out of the jungle on “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” in giant icy slabs of ice.

A year later, the six-foot-seven-inch journalist (6-foot-four inches if you’re lucky) helped to organize an end to the hunger strike for members of the world’s strongest men at a Vienna City Hall which resembled “the heart of another planet.”

But after six years on “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” Madeley looks as if he’s had enough, announcing he’ll quit the show this year.

The flamboyant TV personality and interviewer revealed his decision on his own BBC Radio Two show, ” Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan.”

“I think I did eight years, and so I think the time has come for me to step down from the jungle and move on with my life,” he said.

The 67-year-old’s latest stint on the “celebrity” reality show ended in 2016, when his beloved 17-year-old daughter Chloe spent ten weeks in the jungle alongside other former I’m a Celebrity contestants.
