The two officers were shot while responding to a domestic dispute in the Bronx Thursday morning. One of the officers has been shot, and the other remains hospitalized, but in stable condition.

Detectives Lee Isaacs and Russel Timoshenko were responding to a domestic incident on East 232nd Street in Riverdale when shots were fired.

“All of the sudden I heard shots and I go into my house and look outside and I see all this cops out there and they’re telling me get in the basement. It’s a crime scene outside,” said a neighbor who identified herself as Teresa.

Her husband, Anthony, said: “I have a little girl that is six. I’m the kind of guy if I see people doing something that they shouldn’t do, I would take care of it so I probably ran to the door and see if they need help.”

Captain Jeffrey Schiffer, the commanding officer of the 67th Precinct, is helping with the investigation into the incident.

“The chief of detectives, Captain Jeffrey Schiffer, is doing a fantastic job and he has my full support and he will be there for these detectives. There will be some difficult days ahead, but I know they will be there for us,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a Thursday press conference.

“Officers Timoshenko and Isaacs were standing their ground when they were shot at and they fired back,” NYPD Police Commissioner James O’Neill said.

Authorities say the officers are in stable condition.

The officer who was shot was hit in the torso, but was in stable condition and is expected to be in surgery as of Thursday evening.
